Cabin Baggage Regulations Compliance

Dear Valued Customers,

Airports Company South Africa Corporate Services Department will be enforcing new cabin baggage regulations during the festive period, due to the increased number of cabin baggage that is passing through security. ACSA will therefore ensure full compliance of cabin baggage regulations at all security check points and customers will be asked to return to the SAA check in counters if the allowance is exceeded. This could result in additional excess baggage charges or a delay in travel.

We recommend that you leave sufficient time for the check in and security processing formalities by arriving 2 hours before your flight departs. SAA domestic flights close 40 minutes before departure and boarding gates close 15 minutes. All regional and international flights close 50 minutes prior to departure and boarding gates close 20 minutes prior to departure. There are exceptions to this rule such as Accra, Abidjan, Lagos, Kinshasa and Sao Paulo flights that closes 60 minutes prior to departure.
