The Covid-19 pandemic has introduced a new normal in commercial air travel. Countries around the world have imposed travel requirements to manage the risk brought on by Covid-19. For your convenience we have summarised the entry requirements for countries within our current route network, which can be viewed below. Non compliance with these requirements may result in refused entry. Airlines are required to ensure that travellers meet entry requirements prior to embarkation.

Destination Countries within SAA Operated Route Network

    1. Passengers must complete a "Traveller Health Questionnaire" upon arrival. The form can be found at https://tinyurl.com/2xj53zx3
    2. Passengers and airline crew are subject to medical screening.   
    1. Passengers must have:
      1. A COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure; or
      2. A negative COVID-19 PCR test taken not more than 72 hours before departure. The test certificate must be in English or French.
      3. This does not apply to passengers younger than 11 years.
    2. Passengers must complete a “Travellers Registration Form" before arrival at https://inrbcovid.com/index.php/user/home_en. This will generate a QR code which must be presented upon arrival.
      1. This does not apply to passengers younger than 11 years.
      2. Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure.
  • Ghanaians and Foreign Residents

    1. Passengers must complete a Port Health Declaration Form at https://www.ghs-hdf.org/hdf/ before departure.
    2. Passengers entering and transiting through Ghana must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure. Vaccines accepted are: AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Covovax, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm (BIBP), Sinovac and Sputnik V.
    • This does not apply to:
    • passengers younger than 10 years;
    • passengers between 10 and 17 years. They can also enter with a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point;       
    • nationals and residents of Ghana. They can also enter with a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point.
    1. Nationals and residents of Ghana without a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure with. AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Covovax, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm (BIBP), Sinovac or Sputnik V, are subject to a COVID-19 test and vaccination upon arrival.
      - This does not apply to passengers younger than 18 years.
    2. Passengers are subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival.
    • This does not apply to:
    • passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure. Vaccines accepted are: AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Covovax, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm (BIBP), Sinovac and Sputnik V;
    • passengers younger than 18 years.
    1. Effective 1st June 2022 after Gazetting, the following will be travel requirements:
    • all incoming travellers including Malawians that are fully vaccinated and have a digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate will no longer be required to produce a COVID-19 PCR certificate prior to entering the country;
    • all incoming travellers including Malawians that are not fully vaccinated or don’t have a valid electronically verifiable COVID-19 full vaccination certificate will be required to produce a negative PCR based COVID-19 certificate that is not older than 72 hours at the time of arrival in the country,
    • COVID-19 PCR certificate and or full COVID-19 vaccination certificate requirement for outgoing travellers will depend on the destination country’s requirements.
    1. Passengers must complete the "Mauritius All-In-One Travel Form" at https://safemauritius.govmu.org/. This will generate a PDF document with a QR code which must be presented upon arrival.

    Passengers who have not completed the “Mauritius All-In-One Travel Form” are expected to complete it manually at the airport upon arrival, passengers may experience delays.

    1. Passengers are subject to self-isolation for 7 days.
    2. This does not apply to:
      • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival. Vaccines accepted are AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinovac, Sinopharm and Sputnik V; or
      • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 28 days before departure. Vaccines accepted are Janssen and Sputnik Light; or
      • a COVID-19 recovery certificate and a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received the first vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik Light and Sputnik V at least 14 days before arrival;
      • passengers younger than 18 years.
      • All incoming passengers are no longer required to a produce COVID-19 PCR or           rapid antigen test upon arrival
      • Wearing of face masks is compulsory at the Airport.
    3. Passengers can be subject to medical screening.

    1. Suspension of visa on arrival facilities for nationals of Bangladesh, Eritrea, India, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka.
    2. Passengers and airline crew must have:
    • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated; or
    • a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued at most 72 hours before departure. The test certificate must be issued in English, French or Portuguese.
    • This does not apply to:
    • nationals of Mozambique;
    • passengers younger than 11 years.
      1. Nationals of Mozambique without a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued at most 72 hours before departure are subject to a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival at their own expense and quarantine for 7 days. The test certificate must be issued in English, French or Portuguese.
    • This does not apply to:
    • passengers who have been outside of Mozambique for less than 7 days. The COVID-19 PCR test they have obtained before departure is valid for 7 days;
    • passengers younger than 11 years.
      1. Passengers are subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival.
      2. Passengers could be subject to quarantine for 7 days.
      3. Airline crew could be subject to quarantine until their next scheduled flight.
    1. Travellers arriving in Nigeria must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted not more than 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point. The test result must be in English.
      • This does not apply to:
      • Nationals of Nigeria arriving from Ukraine;
      • Passengers younger than 10 years;
      • Effective 04 April 2022, passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated.
    2. Passengers travelling on duty staying less than 7 days in Nigeria must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated.
    3. Obtain a “permit to Travel” before departure obtained online national travel portal (Nigeria International Travel Portal – https://nitp.ncdc.gov.ng) and proceed to fill in the online Health Declaration/ Self-Reporting form located on the portal. Passengers must be in possession of a paid permit to travel with a QR.
    4. Passengers are subject to medical screening.
    5. Passengers are subject to self-isolation for 7 days.
      • This does not apply to passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated.
    1. Fully vaccinated travellers do not require any form of negative COVID test results but shall be required to provide proof of full vaccination status. “fully vaccinated” means complete doses of a vaccine for example first and second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine.
    2. International travellers who are not fully vaccinated MUST show proof of a COVID-19 PCR test for a sample collected within 72 hours before departure from the country of origin.
    3. This does not apply to passengers younger than 12 years.
    4. The wearing of face masks is mandatory
    5. A completed "Traveller Health Questionnaire" must be presented upon arrival.
    6. Passengers and airline crew are subject to medical screening upon arrival.
    1. Passengers must have:
      1. A COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated; or
      2. A printed negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued at most 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point.
    2. This does not apply to passengers younger than 12 years.
