USA North East Winter Storm

Adverse weather forces SAA to cancel flights to and from New York


Johannesburg, 08 February 2013. South African Airways (SAA) wishes to advise its customers of flight cancellations and reschedule due to the forecasted inclement weather associated with the ‘North East Winter Storm’ in the United States and the likely impact that this may have on the airport and regular operations at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

Canceled Flights
Friday, 08 February 2013
•    SA 203, 08 February 2013, Johannesburg to New York – departure time 20h35 (JHB time).
Saturday, 09 February 2013
•    SA 204, 09 February 2013, New York to Johannesburg – departure time 10h40 (NY time).

Rescheduled Flight
SAA further advises its customers that flights to and from Washington via Dakar are planned to operate as scheduled with the exception of the following change, for today, Friday, 08 February.
•    SA 207, 08 February 2013, Johannesburg via Dakar to Washington will depart at OR Tambo International Airport at 20h30 instead of the usual 18h15.

The following flights are currently planned to operate as scheduled pending a change in the weather conditions on the day of departure.

•    SA 203, 09 February 2013, Johannesburg to New York – departure time 20h35 (JHB time).
Sunday, 10 February 2013
•    SA 204, 10 February 2013, New York to Johannesburg – departure time 10h40 (NY time).
Sunday, 10 February 2013
•    SA 203, 10 February 2013, Johannesburg to New York – departure time 20h35 (JHB time).
Monday, 11 February 2013
•    SA 204, 11 February 2013, New York to Johannesburg – departure time 10h40 (local time).

All customers traveling to and from New York and Washington are encouraged to check their ‘Flight Status’ by visiting our website www.flysaa.com , prior to leaving for the airport.

SAA ticketed customers travelling to and from New York (only) for the period of 08 to 11 February 2013 (only) will be offered the following assistance either via our Call Centres, City Ticket Offices, Airport Ticket Offices or your Travel Agent.
•    Rebooking on the next available flight (same cabin / same booking class) subject to space.
•    Full refund and waiver on all cancelation and administration fees.
•    All date and flight change fees will be waivered.
o    This allowance will apply to South African Airways tickets only and not on any other airline tickets.
o    The offer must be taken up and tickets re-issued through an SAA office by Wednesday, 13 February 2013.
o    If a customer is flying on a later date, all such travel must commence on or before Sunday, 17 February 2013.
