SAA increases capacity to Cape Town and East London

Johannesburg, 11 December 2013 – South African Airways (SAA) announced that the national carrier will be deploying more capacity on the Cape Town and East London routes, following an increase in demand for seats from passengers wishing to travel on these routes.

“The beginning of the festive season coincided with school holidays and most people tend to travel to go on vacation. We have seen a spike in demand for seats and have consequently decided to deploy more capacity to accommodate as many passengers as possible,” said SAA Spokesperson, Tlali Tlali.

SAA operates daily flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town as well as Johannesburg and East London. “The frequencies on these routes will remain the same. What has changed, is that we have deployed bigger aircraft on specific days, thus increasing capacity and enabling us to meet the demand,” Tlali elaborated.

Passengers interested in flying on these routes are reminded to follow the normal booking and reservations procedures which remain in place. The scheduled regular operations to East London, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town will stay the same.

SAA would like to clarify that the special air transport arrangements to the funeral service of former president Nelson Mandela is handled through a separate mechanism. This chartered service is for guests invited by the State and details regarding that service are communicated directly to the guests at the time when they are invited.
