The Airports Company of South Africa have implemented a temporary road closure at O.R. Tambo International Airport, effective Sunday 19 March 2023. The passenger terminal departures drop-off and arrivals pick-up roads would be closed. The closure is a safety and security measure and the following would be in place to control the smooth entry and exit to the airport:

  1. Vehicles would be directed Parkade 2 South level 2 for pick-up and drop-off
  2. Airline crew buses would be redirected to the bus terminal
  3. Emergency vehicles, Diplomats and their vehicles and law enforcement agencies must communciate with DIRCO for access

Similar security measures have been put in place at Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport. We encourage our customers to allow for additional travel time to the airport to ensure that you are not delayed for your scheduled flight, make use of self-service check-in to reduce time through the airport terminal and to the boarding gate, and where possible travel with cabin baggage only.

Your safety is our priority, and we endeavour to get you to your destination as seamlessly as possible.

Warm regards,

South African Airways
