Washington Dulles International Airport
Washington Dulles offers non-stop flights to Accra, Ghana and then ongoing to the SAA hub Johannesburg. From Johannesburg SAA offers onward to numerous destinations within Southern Africa and the continent.
SAA’s check in counter is in the Main Terminal. Our flights operate from Concourse B. The AeroTrain connects the main terminal with the concourses.
Airport check-in and bag drop
The check-in area of South African Airways is located in the Main Terminal, Departures Level, Zone 1.

Online check-in: opens 24 hours before departure
To avoid queuing at the airport, online check-in opens 24 hours before each flight and will remain open up to 2 hours before each international departure.
You can select your seats free of charge and print your boarding pass in advance.
Connecting at Dulles airport is simple and easy.
All arriving international passengers and luggage, must be screened by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Make sure to collect all of your luggage before exiting the CBP facility; re-entry is not allowed. Passengers connecting to another flight will need to re-check their luggage and go through screening by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The AeroTrain moves passengers between the Terminal and the midfield gates for domestic and international departing flights and domestic arriving flights.
Eligible SAA passengers may use the Turkish Airlines Lounge post security in Concourse B. The lounge is one the departure level close to gate B37.
Getting to and from the airport
Washington Dulles International is about 27 miles from Downton Washington.
Washington Flyer Taxicabs) exclusively serve Dulles International Airport, offering a 24-hour service. The fare to central Washington D.C. is around US$65, and the journey time varies from 30 to 60 minutes according to traffic conditions.
From the Terminal Baggage Claim Level, exit the ramp to Door 2, 4 or 6. Rental car shuttle buses pick up at Curb 2C or Curb 2F. Rental car shuttle buses are operated by each individual company. Look for company's logo on the bus before boarding.
The Washington Flyer coach runs regular services between Washington Dulles International Airport and the nearest Metro rail station, West Falls Church, from outside arrivals door four. The journey time is 20 to 30 minutes, and the one-way fare is US$10 – tickets can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Centre ticket counter, on the arrivals level.
