Poet, essayist and moralist Samuel Johnson once proclaimed that “a man who tires of London is tired of life” therefore there is in London all that life can afford.
London is a city of ideas. A city of the imagination. A city of lush parkland and legendary clubs. A city of football and some of the greatest museums and art galleries in the world, free to one and all. It is a city of history and constant change.
It is English. And 300 other languages. It is bowler hats and exotic music. It is the flavours of empire and the centuries old Borough Market. It is London where the familiar and the new clash.
London is home to more professional football teams (13) than any other city on the planet. A holiday in London should include a visit to one of the many legendary stadiums, including Wembley, White Hart Lane or the Cherry Red Records Stadium, home of AFC Wimbledon.
Camden is the artsy heartbeat of London. The bustling neighbourhood is home to market stalls, Regent’s Canal runs through it and live music venues abound. (Image: Laurent Ribot, CC BY 2.0, via Flickr)
