Mission accomplished for team South Africa! As the proud Official Airline of Team South Africa, South African Airways joins the rest of the nation in congratulating our Olympics team for their achievement at the 2016 Rio Olympics Games. It was also a case of mission accomplished as Team South Africa had set themselves a target of 10 medals before the start of the games. Caster Semenya and Wayde van Niekerk bagged Gold in the track and field events, with Wayde breaking Michael Johnson's 17 years record on the 400 metres event.

South Africa finished 30th on the medals table with two gold, six silver, and two bronze medals. This is the best achievement by a South African team at the Olympic Games since re-admission to the Olympics in Barcelona 1992.

In this edition of our newsletter we salute all the women in aviation. South African Airways celebrated Women's Month on 4 August, by operating a wide-bodyaircraft, flight SA056 from Johannesburg to Accra, by an all-female crew.

South African Airways celebrates women's month and first anniversary of Accra Washington DC services

South African Airways celebrated women's month along with the anniversary of its service between Accra in Ghana and Washington DC. The new nonstop route was launched on 4 August last year between Accra's Kotoka International Airport and the Washington, DC - Dulles International Airport and has since inception experienced high load factors, making the route profitable. Flight SA 056 from Johannesburg to Accra on the day was - for the first time on a wide-body aircraft - operated by an all-female crew.

Adding of Missing Flights

Our records reveal that we receive quite a number of requests in our service centre to claim missing Miles. It is quicker to claim missing Miles on our website, flysaa.com, instead of submitting your boarding passes and/or flight tickets via e-mail to the service centre for processing.

This online function is truly seamless and enables you to conveniently claim missing Miles for all flights travelled on SAA, SA Express, Airlink and Star Alliance member airlines. More importantly, by using this online function, you will have access to viewing the status of your missing Miles claim until processed.

Year-End Tiering

As a valued SAA Voyager member, you are encouraged to retain or upgrade your Tier Status by flying the required Tier Miles thresholds on any of the following airlines ; SAA, Star Alliance, Swaziland Airlink, Airlink or SA Express by 31 December 2016. Furthermore, we encourage you to check if you have any outstanding Miles by logging into your account online to view your Mileage Summary.

How to retain your current Tier:
