The month of November for SAA customers will simply be a case of every Bok has its flight! SAA is proud to be the official carrier for the Springboks. We also take our hats off to the Springboks for their support of Melanoma Cancer Awareness spearheaded by Vichy and L'Oreal. The team and its' management have taken a skin cancer screening test before they embark on their Grand Slam Tour.

As an international carrier and loyalty programme we are cognisant of our role in local and global message communication. As the world commemorated the “Breast Cancer” Awareness month in October; we are aware of the Cancer challenges, faced by both men and women around the world. November marks the commemoration of Cancer challenges faced by men; let’s all join hands and support the "Movember" movement and activities around the world; and of course the most popular driver of the campaign being men growing their moustaches to show support.

South African Airways (SAA), the South African national airline, who will be celebrating its' 80^th birthday in February next year with the South African Rugby Union and the Springboks as they look to deliver a memorable month of celebrations that will see these two iconic brands working together to ensure that world class performance is delivered both on and off the field of play.

These celebrations will enable you our valued customers to interact with numerous Springboks, Springbok 7’s and Under 20 players at the various airport lounges.

In November, SAA customers will be able to interact with members of the Springbok squad as the players will be handing out autographs, having pictures taken and chatting with SAA customers at the lounge at O.R. Tambo International Airport prior to their departure for Europe on the Castle Lager Outbound Tour Series against the Welsh, Scottish and French. An added bonus will be that SAA customers in the London Heathrow lounge will also be able to rub shoulders with the Springbok players getting photos taken and receiving autographs at the end of the Castle Lager Tour in late November as they prepare to fly home, hopefully with a clean sweep against our Northern Hemisphere opponents.

This further underlines the airline’s strategic objective of providing excellent customer service as well as supporting our National Team in their pursuit of excellence across the globe.

Keen rugby fans who watched the Castle Lager Rugby Championship in August would have seen South African Airways' presence at FNB Stadium when the Springboks played against Argentina for Nelson Mandela Day, as well as at DHL Newlands where they took on the Australians and finally at Ellis Park where in the Championship decider they looked to avenge the bitter defeat against New Zealand’s All Blacks earlier in the month. SAA was advertised extensively at all these venues further underlining their support of the South African National Team.

SN Brussels Class structure change:

SAA Voyager Members purchasing fares in Q & V class, will be earning 50% Miles as of 1 January 2014 as these fares have moved to the Discounted Economy class structure.

Avianca News – No Unaccompanied Minor Service:

As of 1 November 2013, Avianca will no longer accept Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) requests on interline and code-share reservations.

This service will only be permitted between Avianca holding flights (AV, LR, TA and T0) If a customer requires this service, separate tickets must be issued.

Avianca will honour and accept all Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) requests made until 31 October 2013.

Effective 1 November 2013, this service will not be provided at the airport and boarding will be denied.

UA Checked Baggage Policy Change:

Changes will be effective for tickets purchased on/after 17 October 2013. For tickets purchased prior to 17 October 2013, the current baggage policy will apply.

The changes to the baggage policy are as follows:

TAM Airlines’ exit from Star Alliance

TAM will be leaving the Star Alliance on 30 March 2014. Until the withdrawal date, TAM Airlines will remain a full Star Alliance member, complying with all Star Alliance Core Values and offering all Star Alliance products and services to all Star Alliance customers.

Accrual – Tier Miles:
SAA Voyager Members will be able to accrue Tier Miles on all TAM Airlines operated flights, until 30 March 2014.

Award Redemption:
As of 30 March 2014, the Star Alliance award chart will no longer include TAM Airlines flights for award travel. All existing Award bookings confirmed before the withdrawal date will be honoured by TAM Airlines, for a period of 360 days and in accordance with Terms and Conditions in place.

Claim of missing Miles:
Missing Miles can be claimed for a period of 12 months from withdrawal date. No missing Miles will be credited after 30 March 2015.

Star Alliance Gold and Silver Benefits:
No Star Alliance Gold and Silver Benefits will be offered on TAM services after 30 March 2014. Star Alliance Gold and Silver benefits are: Priority Reservation Waitlist and Priority Standby. Star Alliance Gold benefits also include: Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage Delivery (Priority Bag Tag), Extra Baggage Allowance and Lounge Access.

Lounge Access:
As of the Withdrawal date, Star Alliance Gold status members will no longer have reciprocal lounge access with TAM Airlines.

SA Express is proud to announce additional services on the domestic market

New routes will commence on 1 November 2013. These routes will be between Cape Town and George: twice daily weekdays. Between Johannesburg and Nelspruit: twice daily weekdays and once on Sunday. Between Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg: twice daily weekdays and once on Sunday. Additional flights are available between Cape Town and Kimberley daily in the afternoon weekdays. SAA Voyager Members will be able to earn and spend Miles on these routes.

Airlink is pleased to announce the introduction of new services on the routes Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, and Richards Bay effective 18 November 2013. The services are in response to popular demand and will be at ideal times in order to satisfy the requirements of the same day returning traveller in both directions.
