The SAA Voyager programme continues to position itself as Africa�s leading frequent flyer programme and extend a warm SAA welcome to EVA Air who have recently joined the Star Alliance and the Voyager airline partner family. We further pride ourselves with our latest non-airline partner acquisition that recently saw Miles For Style adding to the ever-growing lifestyle facet of our programme.

Furthermore, UCount Rewards, an innovative new rewards program from Standard Bank allows you the chance to collect reward points every time you shop with your Standard Bank card. These points can be converted to SAA Voyager Miles and used towards future flights!

For your convenience, SAA is now offering a daily service between Johannesburg and Accra, Ghana. This extended service will be effective from 7 August 2013.

It is indeed that time of the year where South Africans pay tribute to the legacy that is Nelson Mandela. The 18th of July or Mandela Day as it is heart-warmingly referred to, is a day to honour Madiba for all the sacrifices he has endured for the liberation of our nation. A celebratory month indeed as South African Airways celebrate the eleventh consecutive year of being voted as �Best airline in Africa� at the Skytrax World Airline Awards Ceremony.

We have done it again for the eleventh consecutive year!

SAA has once again been awarded the Skytrax Award for Best Airline in Africa, at the Skytrax World Airline Awards Ceremony, hosted at the 50th International Paris Air Show. This Awards Ceremony is the most prestigious recognition for airlines world-wide.

We are especially proud of the Best Airline in Africa Award, as every year, all African airlines are voted for by their customers in this on-line customer satisfaction survey, which runs during a 10-month period and over 18-million business and leisure air travellers from 160 countries participate. Once again, 200 airlines featured and customer-satisfaction levels were measured across 41 key performance indicators of front-line service and product offerings, including check-in, boarding, on-board seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment and staff service.

SAA to Offer Daily Flights to Accra, Ghana

We are growing our African route network by adding capacity in West Africa, a key and strategic part of our Africa route network. Effective from 7 August 2013 we will be offering a daily service between Johannesburg and Accra, Ghana.

Accra is an important travel destination in West Africa. Adding a seventh frequency on a Wednesday on this route will further strengthen our presence in West Africa.

Our aim on the continent is to increase and improve the connectivity between African countries and we actively pursue these opportunities and provide millions of travellers with greater inter- and intra-Africa accessibility.

The Accra service was increased from five to six flights per week with an additional flight on a Sunday from August 2012, and now with a seventh frequency effective from 7 August.

The seventh frequency will operate on a Wednesday with an Airbus A330-200. This aircraft offers customers 36 luxurious Business Class seats and 186 seats in Economy Class.

Star Alliance Partner Update

EVA Air joins the Voyager Program

EVA Air has joined Star Alliance and the Voyager airline partner family as of 18 June 2013.

EVA Air has a destination network that spans the globe, stretching from Asia and China to Europe, North America and Oceania and linking more than 60 cities. Most EVA Air flights originate out of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, its main hub near Taipei, Taiwan. Voyager Members will be able to earn and redeem miles on EVA Air services.


Voyager Members will earn the following miles when travelling on BR flights:

H, S, Q 50%
R, I, E, V, W, N, X, G 0%


EVA Air flight redemptions will fall under the Star Alliance Award chart.

Mileage claims period:

Voyager Members will have 12 months to claim missing Voyager Miles on EVA airline service.

Air Canada introduces a new leisure airline known as Air Canada rouge

Air Canada rouge is a new service devoted to leisure travel, with routes opening on 01 July 2013 between Canada and holiday spots in Europe and the Caribbean, including Edinburgh, Venice and Athens, along with points in Cuba, Jamaica, Costa Rica and more.

When traveling with Air Canada rouge with a Premium rouge, Latitude or Flex fare, Voyager members will earn 20% of actual miles flown. Other fares are not eligible for mileage accrual.

You will also be able to redeem for travel on Air Canada rouge flights in Economy Class. Additionally, those members who hold Voyager elite status will be eligible for either Star Alliance Silver or Star Alliance Gold recognition benefits on these flights.

New Service Concept on Scandinavian Airlines

SAS has launched a new service concept, replacing the previous service classes with two brand new alternatives: SAS Go and SAS Plus.

On SAS Intercontinental flights, the current 3 service class concept remains unchanged. The service concept consists of Economy, Premium Economy and Business.� As of 09 June 2013 the cabin names will change to SAS GO, SAS PLUS and SAS Business. On all other routes a new 2 service class concept is introduced.� The service concept consist of Economy and Premium Economy and are named SAS GO and SAS PLUS.

SAS GOProduct details:
SAS Go always includes one checked bag @ 23 kilo at no extra charge, coffee or tea onboard and free newspapers as well as several time saving services, one of which is mobile check-in.

SAS PLUS � Product details:
SAS Plus is a combination of the former Business and Premium Economy products, where all the benefits have been merged together into this new concept.��

It includes two checked bags at no extra charge @ 23kilo, SAS Fast Track, Lounge access, free meals and drinks onboard, newspapers and Wi-Fi.

Accrual changes for Voyager members

SAS have introduced a new revenue booking class (P) from departure date 09 June 2013.
P class is in the new Premium Economy (SAS PLUS) class - members will earn 125% miles when booking a P/class fare.
(Y, S & B class fares) will be moved to the new Premium Economy (SAS PLUS) class - members will earn 125% miles when booking these fares.
(A & J class fares) will be moved from Business class to the new Premium Economy (SAS PLUS) class � members will earn 125% miles when booking these fares.

Adria Airways updated class structure

Voyager Members will earn the following Voyager Miles when flying on Adria Airways as of 26 June 2013:

  • 125% of actual miles flown in Business class fares (J C D Z)
  • 100% of actual miles flown in Economy class fares (P Y B)
  • 75% of actual miles flown in Discounted Economy class fares (M U H Q E V W)
  • 50% of actual miles flown in Deeply Discounted Economy class fares (G K L T)

Please take note that no miles will be earned in I, X, R, N, A, O and S class fares.

Voyager simplified

Passports and Visa Requirements

All customers are reminded to ensure that the name on the ticket matches the passport. Please ensure that the correct visa requirements are adhered to when travelling as failure to adhere to these requirements will result in denied boarding and/or denied entry.

Accurate Voyager number

Kindly verify that the correct Voyager number is on the electronic ticket and boarding pass. Confirm that the name on the passport matches your Voyager profile as well. This includes the sequence of names/ spacing .etc. you can then be assured that the Miles will track automatically as you travel.

Silent lounges

Effective 3 July 2013, there will be no boarding announcements in our lounges and all our valued members are encouraged to note and adhere to boarding times on their boarding passes in order not to miss your flights. Only irregular operations will be Delayed flights. .

Volkswagen driving experience prize-winners

Kelebogile Mashokwe and Paul Krynauw � VW Driving Experience competition winners.

A truly fun filled day for our two driving experience prize-winners and their partners. The day started with a briefing session from VW driving academy instructors on the driving techniques and the do's and don�ts when one is in control of a vehicle.

Whether this was a coincidence or not no one knows; both our winners share not only a birthday month, one day after the other but are also serious about cars. Paul is himself a racing driver and Kelebogile in her own admission a true VW Golf fanatic.
