While we all prepare to head to our holiday destinations or,
perhaps stay at home and tinker in the garden, let’s remember our less
fortunate fellow South Africans. Make this year’s holiday season a time
to reach out and bring joy to those less fortunate.
The header image this month portrays the excitement of the SAA staff
when welcoming a brand new state of the art Airbus A350 to our fleet,
the first of 4 new aircraft. Further details regarding the aircraft
features are given in the SAA News section below.
We
would like to apologise sincerely, if you were inconvenienced by the
disruption of services due to the recent industrial action. We
appreciate your loyalty and assure you that SAA and Voyager are
committed to continue high service levels to ensure our valued
customers are taken care of.
As has already been reported in the media, the Board of Directors of
SAA has announced that the notice of commencement of business rescue
proceedings was filed with the Companies and Intellectual Property
Commission (CIPC) on 5 December 2019. SAA is officially in business
rescue. The CIPC has processed the appointment of the business rescue
practitioner, Mr Les Matuson from Matuson Associates in SAA’s voluntary
business rescue process to preserve value for the company’s
shareholder, lenders, suppliers, and ultimately our customers.
At present, SAA continues to operate all fights as scheduled. It
is expected that SAA’s schedules will be urgently reviewed by the
business rescue practitioner. The exact timing of the review process is
hard to qualify, but SAA commits to sharing any changes in schedule
with customers as soon as any decisions are made. Information on the
status of SAA flights will be placed on all official SAA channels of
communication, including social media accounts and updated on a
continuous basis.
It is important to point out that services operated by SAA’s subsidiary
low-cost airline, Mango, will continue as usual and as scheduled.

The four additions to SAA’s fleet is significant, particularly in a
highly competitive environment where the product and value equation
necessitates a sustained strategy of constant improvement. The
commencement date of this aircraft’s operations should be announced
within the next 30 days
|

South African Airways (SAA) announced a codeshare partnership with
Africa World Airlines (AWA) on 27 October 2019. SAA will codeshare
between Accra (ACC) – Kumasi (KMS), Accra - Lagos (LOS) and Accra –
Abuja (ABV). You will be able to travel on the above routes on a single
SAA ticket where travel includes Johannesburg, and earn Voyager Miles
when booking on the SAA flight number.

Airlink introduces additional flights to Hoedspruit
Airlink has added more flights between Cape Town and Hoedspruit in response to market demand for December 2019 and January 2020.
Additional flights will operate on:
24, 26 - 30 December 2019 and 2 - 5 January 2020.
Flights will depart Cape Town at 09h45 and arrive in Hoedspruit at
12h25 and will depart Hoedspruit at 13h05 and arrive in Cape Town at
15h55.

Please note that the ongoing political situation in Hong Kong coupled
with concomitant losses on the route for SAA, has seen the temporary
cancellation of flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong until 15
January 2020. Should there be a need to further extend the
cancellations, you will be notified accordingly. We offer our apology
for this inconvenience.
Claims for flights that have not tracked for partner airlines
(excluding SAA, SA Express and Airlink), require verification by the
airline partner. In the event that the partner rejects the claim, an
e-mail that includes the rejected flight information will be shared
with you.
Please note that holding an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel
Authority) has become mandatory for visitors and transit passengers.
You must visit www.immigration.govt.nz
to check if you need an NZeTA before travelling to New Zealand. The
only official way to request an NZeTA is through Immigration New
Zealand, using the government website.
You should not request your NZeTA through any unauthorised third party.
If you travel on a New Zealand or an Australian passport ? and/or you
already hold a visa for New Zealand, you do not need an NZeTA.
