We are proud to announce the introduction of new state-of-the-art
Airbus A350-900 aircraft into service during the latter part of 2019.
The aircraft will operate on a nonstop basis between Johannesburg and
New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), replacing the
A340-600 aircraft on the route. SAA has secured favourable lease
conditions on two aircrafts as part of SAA’s fleet renewal strategy one
of the objectives of which was replacing some of the aging A340-600
aircraft.
The introduction of the
A350-900 twin-engine wide-body aircraft, is an important step-change,
as it presents a superior product for a world-class leading customer
experience, boasts fuel-efficiency (reduction of 20% fuel burn) with
reduced carbon emissions and has the latest offering in safety,
technology and maintenance.

This agreement makes it
possible for SAA to add its code on 20 connecting flights in Brazil
operated by GOL, including Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Curitiba, Porto
Alegre, Belo Horizonte, and Florianópolis, among others. This codeshare
with the leading carrier in the Brazilian domestic market extends SAA’s
reach throughout Brazil.

SAA Voyager is delighted to welcome GOL to the SAA Voyager Programme.
GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes is the largest airline in Brazil, and
offers 750 daily flights to 74 destinations in Brazil, South America,
the Caribbean and the United States with a standardised fleet of 122
Boeing 737’s.
Voyager members will be able to earn and spend Voyager Miles on all flights operated by GOL.

partners. This is a reminder that not all fare classes are eligible for
earning miles when travelling on Star Alliance partner airlines or our
other airline partners. Below are the non-accruable fare classes for
the above airlines:
Lufthansa (LH) – O, I, X, R, P, L and K class.
United (UA) – F, I and X class.
Singapore (SQ) – Q, N, I, X, V, K and G class.
Ethiopian (ET) – W, E, O, X, N, I and R class.

SAA has taken a strategic decision to close the SAA City Ticketing
Offices (CTOs) within South Africa. This move comes in the wake of the
growing traveller demand for more comprehensive self-service online and
in-situ facilities, effectively making ticketing offices less efficient
and ultimately, a thing of the past.
Our valued customers remain central to our existence and following
the closure of the CTOs we continue to assist those customers
accustomed to the CTOs, via dedicated telephone and/or e-mail contacts
