Speaking of dominance our extensive network of Africa continues to grow with the introduction of a new route. As of 1 October 2011 you will be able to fly directly to Ndola, Zambia.

The long-lasting impression most visitors leave Brazil with is of carefree, colourful people dancing and celebrating in street parades at Carnival. It's a culture with a passion for life and exuberance of spirit that charms visitors from around the world.
The country has much to offer visitors at all times of year. However, tourists descending on the country's exciting cities, such as hedonistic Rio de Janeiro, can enjoy the five-star hotels, shopping malls, pristine beaches, sunny skies and bustling nightlife without really having to confront the hundreds of shanty towns (favelas).
With booming mining, agricultural and manufacturing sectors, Brazil has the highest GDP in Latin America and is expected to be one of the world's dominant economies by the middle of this century. Brazil also caters well for business tourism and is a favoured destination for conventions, congresses and expos, particularly the city of Sao Paulo, which is the country's largest city and the business capital of Brazil.
Being so vast, larger than the continental United States; Brazil offers a variety of cultures and topographies. The range is evident in the contrast of the Amazon and Pantanal rain forests to the mountain towns of Minas Gerais, the urban jungle of Sao Paulo and the vast central plateau around Brasilia, as well as the world-famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. It all adds up to an exotic and exciting Latin American mix where the common denominators are samba, sunshine, sultry smiles and soccer.

The industrial city of Port Elizabeth is the centre of the Eastern Cape region of South Africa, known in most tourist guides as 'settler country'.
The city, from its humble beginnings, has grown into a principal port and manufacturing centre. Although it is very much a working town, Port Elizabeth draws plenty of tourists because of its proximity to the attractions of the east coast and historically interesting interior.
The city is justifiably known as 'the friendly city' and Algoa Bay boasts 25 miles (40km) of beautiful sandy beaches lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The attractive beachfront is the venue for the annual 'Splash' festival and world boardsailing championships, and features a long promenade and pier full of tourist facilities.

Port Elizabeth has a few museums and a small oceanarium, as well as the Nelson Mandela Stadium, which was built for the 2010 World Cup and dominates the cityscape. The nearby Donkin Reserve provides a pleasant day trip as do Seaview Game and Lion Park and the Kragga Kamma Game Park. Slightly further afield visitors can see the 'Big Five' at Shamwari Game Reserve, Amakhala Game Reserve, and Addo Elephant Park. |

New route launched… Introducing Ndola! |

South African Airways is set to commence operations to Ndola (Zambia) from 1 October 2011. Recently awarded for the best "Service Excellence in Africa", the airline will fly to Ndola three times a week, in support of its goal to strengthen its African route network.
The introduction of this new route will provide a convenient air connection between South Africa and Zambia. Ndola is not only the third-largest city in Zambia, it is also the heart of the copper belt and Zambia's mining capital.
Theunis Potgieter, SAA's GM Commercial adds: "The introduction of this route is aligned to the airline's growth strategy, which aims to introduce new services to feasible destinations, enhancing business travel which effectively nurtures economic growth on the African continent." |
This route will be serviced by the A319 aircraft which accommodates 120 customers in a two class configuration, which includes business and economy class. SAA flights to Ndola will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. SAA is working closely with its partner, SA Airlink, complementing their early morning departures from Johannesburg; to give customers increased travel options.
The introduction of this route follows SAA's recent announcement of three new routes to Bujumbura (Burundi), Kigali (Rwanda) and Cotonou (Benin), from 31 October this year. |

At the end of September/beginning of October each year all roads in Munich lead to the Theresienwiese, a giant grass meadow about the size of 20 football fields near the centre of the city. The occasion is the world's biggest party, the Munich Oktoberfest.
The field becomes a beer-drinking city; complete with its own post office, police force and fire department, and most importantly numerous huge tents, erected by the various Bavarian breweries, which serve as massive beer halls.
The first keg is tapped in ceremonial style to open the two-week celebration, which draws hundreds of thousands of revellers from all around the world. Apart from the rollicking beer halls where traditional Bavarian bands belt out their old favourites, the festival offers a host of carnival games and fun park rides, as well as stalls selling a range of German delicacies.
