Tropical Cyclone Usagi forces SAA to cancel flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong

JOHANNESBURG, 21 September 2013. South African Airways (SAA) wishes to advise its passengers and customers that flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong International Airport have been canceled as a result of adverse weather conditions in Hong Kong.

Authorities in Hong Kong have advised airlines that the Hong Kong International Airport (only) is unsafe to operate to as a result of Tropical Cyclone Usagi. Flights will resume once conditions are deemed safe for flying into and out of the Hong Kong International Airport. As such the following SAA flights have been cancelled:
Saturday, 21 September 2013
•    SA 286 (Johannesburg to Hong Kong). This flight was initially scheduled to depart OR Tambo International Airport at 16:55 (JHB time).  
Sunday, 22 September 2013
•    SA 287 (Hong Kong to Johannesburg). The flight was scheduled to depart the Hong Kong International Airport at 23:50 (Hong Kong time).

All our customers with SAA tickets who are affected by these flight cancellations will be offered the following assistance either via SAA Call Centres, City Ticket Offices, Airport Ticket Offices or through their Travel Agent.
•    Rebooking on the next available flight (same cabin / same booking class) subject to space availability.
•    All date and flight change fees will be waivered. This allowance will apply to South African Airways tickets only and not on any other airline tickets. In addition, the offer must be taken up and tickets re-issued through an SAA office by the 25 September 2013. Should any passenger elect to travel on a later date, all such travel must commence on or before 27 September 2013.
