South African Airways Cargo bags another international Award

Johannesburg, 18 May 2010

South African Airways (SAA) Cargo has, for the third consecutive year, been named the Best African Cargo Airline at the Air Cargo News (ACN) Awards Ceremony held in London on 8 May 2010.

This is the second award received by SAA Cargo this year in recognition of service excellence. On the 9th of March 2010, SAA Cargo received a Certificate of Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) from Air Cargo World (ACW) in Canada.

“We are elated and indeed feel very proud that our customers have, for three consecutive years, voted us the best in Africa. The measures we have put in place to ensure rapid and reliable airfreight movement continue to yield dividends in the form of increased customer satisfaction,” said Justice Luthuli, Acting Head of SAA Cargo.

The Awards are based on customer satisfaction voting and surveys conducted by the Air Cargo News and Air Cargo World amongst freight forwarders worldwide.

The Air Cargo News Cargo Airline of the year awards, have been running for 25 years. The survey is run through the Air Cargo News website (www.aircargonews.net/cay.aspx). Results generated are taken from readers of this magazine, specifically freight forwarders around the world. Votes were audited by an independent organisation and were overseen by the British Institute of Freight Forwarders. Freight forwarders voted for the airlines in various categories. SAA Cargo was the overall winner in the category Best Cargo African Airline.

The Air Cargo Excellence Survey (ACE), on the other hand, was established 5 years ago and is run and published annually by the Air Cargo World magazine. The survey is based on a rating system that measures airlines and airports on specific criteria and subsequently ranks them to identify above or below average performance based on a period of 12 months.
