On behalf of the Executive Team and staff of South African Airways (SAA), I would like to thank the outgoing Board members for their unwavering support and their wise counsel during their term of office.
The Board outlined a clear vision for the airline and was fully committed to the restructuring project that took SAA down the road to operational profitability in the financial year ended end March 2009. This was a significant achievement and is as much attributable to the Board’s oversight and guidance as it is to those in the airline who executed it.
Individual members of the Board have willingly and enthusiastically given considerably of their own time to provide assistance in resolving some of the challenges faced by the airline and in many cases the successful resolution of these would not have been possible without their assistance.
On behalf of the team, I would like to wish the outgoing Board members well and say that it has been a pleasure working with all of you.
I would also like to welcome the new Board into the SAA family. We all look forward to working together with the Board and under its stewardship to deliver an even stronger airline.
