Johannesburg. 19 May 2009.
South African Airways (SAA) has added flights and increased its capacity on the route between Johannesburg and Mumbai, India.
This comes as a result of an increase in demand for seats from spectators of the Indian Premium League (IPL) cricket championship currently being held in South Africa.
In addition to its normal schedule, which includes four flights per week on the route, an additional flight will be added on Wednesday, 22 May and Saturday, 25 May.
On each of the days, the additional flight will operate as SA3284 departing Johannesburg at 12h10pm arriving in Mumbai at 01h00am the following day. The return flight SA3285 departs Mumbai at 03h00am and arrives in Johannesburg at 08h35am.
These flights will be operated with SAA’s Airbus A340-200.
SAA will increase capacity on several existing flights by using a larger aircraft on these routes, namely an A340-600. These are SA284 on Thursday, 21 May and Sunday, 26 May and their respective return flights, SA285 the following day (22 and 27 May).
