Springboks to Brush Shoulders with South African Airways Passengers

JOHANNESBURG, 20 June 2014. South African Airways (SAA) has announced that the South African national rugby players (Springboks) will on Friday, 20 June, spend time and engage with passengers in the SAA domestic Lounge at OR Tambo International Airport.

The Springboks will be spending the afternoon from 16:00 – 19:00 taking photographs, engaging with fans, signing autographs in the SAA Domestic Premium Class Lounge and then board their respective flights.

SAA spokesperson, Mr Tlali Tlali says: “We are very proud to provide a platform for our passengers to interact with their Springbok heroes. In most cases, fans only see their sports stars from a distance but this time around, they will get a chance to brush shoulders, create memories, shake hands, have a chit-chat and who knows, maybe share a snack with them,” says Tlali.

Among other items, four signed rugby balls will be handed-out to the most enthusiastic passengers who will be handpicked out of the crowd as they board their flights.

In addition, SAA has also made provision for a photography service that has the technology to take pictures of the passengers with the Springboks, and upload them directly to the passenger’s Facebook page and be available on SAA Facebook as well. This initiative is set to showcase the premium customer experience in the SAA domestic Lounge.

Passengers must look out for large banners on display for directions to the lounge.
