SAA launches daily non-stop services to Perth, Australia

Johannesburg - 01 September 2009:

South African Airways has increased its frequencies to Perth, Australia, from today, 1 September 2009, and now flies non-stop to the city every day of the week. This cements the fact that SAA operates the fastest and most convenient way to fly to Australia.

Prior to this increase in frequencies, SAA operated five flights per week. The two additional flights will operate on Wednesday and Sunday which now gives our customers a wider choice with daily operations.

SA280 departs Johannesburg on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 22h15pm and arrives in Perth at 13h25pm on the following days. The return flight SA281 departs Perth on Mondays to Fridays at 23h50pm and arrives in Johannesburg the following days at 05h45am.

SA282 departs Johannesburg Fridays and Saturdays at 16h20pm and arrives in Perth at 07h30am the following day. SA283 departs Perth on Saturdays and Sundays at 11h20am and arrives in Johannesburg at 17h15pm the same days.

The increase in flights on the route is in line with SAA’s strategy of strengthening its route network where there is potential to grow, and to meet market demand. In addition the new schedules provide great connectivity to and from Africa to help the mining and business communities to use SAA’s Johannesburg hub as a major gateway into and out of Africa.

In addition to the daily Perth flights SAA has six codeshare flights per week to Sydney operated by its partner, Qantas. This brings the total number of flights offered by SAA out of the Johannesburg to Australia to 13.

The Australia route is one of SAA’s most popular routes.

SAA operates an exclusive product on the route which is sought out by a loyal and growing customer base.

In November 2009 SAA will celebrate its 52nd year of operations into Perth and is the longest serving foreign airline in Western Australia.

SAA will continue to monitor market demand and look for new opportunities going forward.
