Sick, Infirm or Less Mobile Passengers
- South African Airways offers wheelchair facilities to all our passengers with reduced mobility.
- Passengers who require upper torso support should make a booking through the medical reservations department.
- For passengers who require special assistance and who suffer from a specific medical condition, South African Airways can provide acceptance to travel, providing the passenger submits information required by the medical reservations section.
- Passengers travelling with any of the following conditions will be required to complete a medical questionnaire obtainable by the medical reservations section:
- Passengers whose medical condition requires oxygen supply carriage
- Passengers who need a stretcher on board
- Passengers with serious sickness or injuries
- Passengers who suffers from any cardiac or cerebral conditions
- Passengers whose fitness for air travel is in doubt as a result of recent disease, treatment or surgery

Tax Invoices
- After requesting your Tax Invoice online , a PDF document will be e-mailed to you within 72 Hours , to the e-mail address provided.
If a Tax Invoice has been successfully generated from the South African Airways Tax Invoice System, the onus rests on the recipient to ensure that his/her mailbox has enough space to receive an e-mail - with a PDF attachment; and that his/her service provider or exchange server allows for delivery of such e-mails. South African Airways, can not take responsibility for undelivered e-mails due to any other reasons beyond our control including the above.
Prescribed details required from the South African Revenue Service on a tax invoices
Tax invoices must ordinarily reflect all the following details (Section 20(4)):
- The words 'tax invoice' in a prominent place;
- An e-mail message must be in an encrypted form and pdf. format is acceptable to SARS;
- Instead of the word "Tax Invoice", it must be called "COMPUTER GENERATED TAX INVOICE" and this wording must be prominent on the e-mail message;
- name, address and (VAT) registration number of the supplier;
- name and address of the recipient; (as from 1 March 2005, the VAT registration number of the recipient if registered for VAT)
- individual serialised number and the date upon which the tax invoice is issued;
- description of the goods or services supplied;
- quantity or volume of the goods or services supplied;
- either
- the value (ie excluding VAT) of the supply and
- the amount of tax charged and
- the consideration (ie price including VAT) for the supply; (exclusive basis)
- or the consideration (ie price including VAT) for the supply and
- either the amount of the tax charged or a statement that it includes VAT and the rate at which the tax is charged (inclusive basis).
Ticket Collection Options
- When making a booking on flysaa.com, you have various ticket collection options. Please note that should no option be selected and e-ticketing is available on your trip, it will automatically default to this SAA E-Ticketing option.
SAA E-Ticketing
- E-Ticketing allows you to check-in without a physical ticket.
- All you have to do is present an I.D document and credit card (for authentication purposes) to the check-in agent and you will be issued with the normal boarding pass.
- When choosing this option, the SAA database carries a record of your personal and itinerary details. The check-in agent will access your record and issue the relevant boarding pass.
- Please note that this option is only available on electronic ticket routes. When making an online booking, E-Ticketing flights will be marked with 'You may now make use of electronic tickets for this flight reservation.'
Sponsored Bookings
- If you are booking on behalf of another person where the credit card holder is not the passenger and will not be present for collection of the ticket (where applicable), the passenger must only present the valid form of identification such as an ID Book or Passport, and you will be issued with your boarding pass. Failure to comply with any of these requirements will result in the boarding pass not being issued.
Pick up at any SAA Ticketing Office (country of departure)
- Tickets may be collected from any South African Ticketing Office (country of departure) that services SAA, SA Express or Airlink.
- Tickets may be collected between 3 hours and 1 working day after making this online booking. This will depend on the flight you have chosen.

Information Regarding Unaccompanied Minors
Reservations for Unaccompanied minors cannot be booked online. Please contact the Call Centre for more information.
- Unaccompanied minors may travel on South Africa Airways flights if they:
- have prior authorisation from SAA
- reach their destination before 20h00
- in the event of a connecting flight
- have booked through the central reservations office are in possession of written consent from their parents or guardians on international flights are in possession of the necessary documentation (a valid passport, visas and health documents)
- are escorted to the airport and check-in by a responsible adult and met at destination by an authorised adult.
- Please also note:
- All children between 5 and 11 are considered unaccompanied when travelling alone.
- Children aged 5 to 11 are not considered to be unacompanied minors when accompanied by another passenger of 16 or older
- Children between the ages of 12 and 15 are regarded as young passengers and may travel unaccompanied.
- Unaccompanied minors may not be booked in business or first class.
Children under 5 can only travel if accompanied throughout by an escort. Please notify SAA reservations who will be escorting the child. If you do not have an escort, SAA will arrange one, at a fee. Please contact the Call Centre for more information.
